For the record

The twenty one Egyptian Coptic Christians beheaded by Isis  Were Christians Also for the record, the end of the story for Satan and all his evil works goes like this:   And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be loosed from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.   And they marched up over the broad earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city; but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever....

Ya Rabbi Yasou

Ya Rabbi Yasou

O My Lord Jesus   This said to be the last words cried in unison by the 21 Coptic Christians beheaded on the Mediterranean beachfront in Libya, martyred under the blade of the Muslim scimitar. The shadow of death in black suits behind them, but they for love of their Lord and the Christian faith bow their heads knowing when they lift their eyes in the very instant they breath their last, they will see the face of Jesus. We are living the book of Revelation.   When they opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those slain for the Word of God and for the witness they had borne; they cried out with a loud voice,   “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell upon...

On the Brink and the sixth prayer

I’m not sure what it means to find out that Madonna isn’t a fan of the 50 Shades book or movie which opens today. It’s been hyped as a wonderful date night movie for Valentine’s Day. Can you even imagine?  A while back, I recall seeing some of the women patients at the hospital reading this ‘novel’ I’d heard about, but wondered what woman would find violent sex entertaining or worthy of her time or dignity. Curiosity maybe? I don’t even want to guess. I’m not judging, but I am wondering how a culture could not see the evil in such perversity. From the Amazon reviews it’s not even written well. For my mind that is a clear sign that Satan has blinded and captivated women, using our God given gift of...

…Not permitting them to speak

…Not permitting them to speak

When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons.   The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him. —– from the Gospel reading, fifth Sunday, Ordinary Time   “The devils knew that Jesus was the Christ who had been promised by the Law, for they saw in Him all the signs which had been foretold by the prophets. But they were ignorant of His divinity.” “The reason why Jesus forbade the devils to speak was to teach us not to believe them, even if they say truth. For if once they find persons to believe them, they mingle truth with falsehood.”...

Blessed Virgin Mary: first Saturday of the month and devout affections, fifth prayer

O Jesus, King most beloved, remember now the mournful desolation of Thy Heart, when Thou forsaken by all, wert mocked as Thou didst hang on the Cross;   when Thou didst find none to comfort Thee but Thy beloved Mother, who stood by Thy Cross to the last, and whom Thou didst commend to the disciple:   Woman, behold thy son   and to the disciple:   Behold thy Mother   I beseech Thee, O compassionate  Jesus, by that sword of anguish which then pierced her Heart, do Thou condole with me and console me in all my tribulations. Amen +PAX   St Gertrude the Great Herald of Divine Love, meditations on the passion of Christ, Tan...
