Desire and fire

Desire and fire

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

—Luke 21:33

Why? Why will the the Lord’s words outlast even the stars in the Heavens and the mystery of the oceans, which man in all his great wisdom and knowledge, can only begin to probe.

The Words of Jesus have power because they are founded on truth and they–

are everlasting.

In the homily my spiritual director gave this morning, he said,

Since this is true, then the call on our life as followers of Christ, is to consecrate ourselves to the truth.

We must stand then, for what is true.

Whatever the cost.

Imagine the power inherent to us in His Word; it will outlast all we know, see and comprehend. To seek the face of Christ, to meditate on His Word creates a fire in the heart. The more you know Him, the more you long to know Him.

Despite his persecution, it must be what the prophet Jeremiah spoke of when he cried out;

If I say,”I will not mention Him

or speak anymore His name,”

there is in my heart as it were a burning fire

shut up in my bones.

Jeremiah 20:9

Wonder if there are any good Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales on sturdy water flasks and mud resistant outfits to wear in a cistern.
